Episode 177 - Doreen Taylor

Country Music can be a stale genre at times. There are a lot of artists that sound the same, that's why it's always refreshing to hear a unique voice. On this episode of the podcast, I talked to artist Doreen Taylor. Here's an excerpt from her website:

"Doreen is an award winning singer and actress, but she has also received critical acclaim as one of the best young songwriting talents in the industry with not only captivating melodies, but extremely expressive lyrics that strongly explore boundless depths of her heart and soul. Doreen is best characterized as an eclectic talent with popular musical influences like Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, Gretchen Wilson, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Heart, Patti LaBelle, Linda Ronstadt and yes... even Britney Spears. Her music blurs styles and crosses formats, yet she fuses everything together in an ingenious, effortless way."

Doreen has a great album out called Magic, which you can purchase through iTunes, CDBaby, and various other outlets. She is about to start touring in support of that album as well. So we talked about that, what it's like being unique, her musical influences, and other things happening in her life.  Find out how this former operatic singer who's into Tool and doesn't have an iPod should be in your life today.

Visit her on the web at: http://doreentaylormusic.com/ and purchase her album through her website as well. Stalk her via twitter, facebook, and her many other social media outlets!!

Episode 176 - Women.

In this episode of From The Burro, Dave tackles the topic of Women. What do women deal with in Society? From walking around at a convention to buying clothes at the store? It's a complex world, especially with male and female relationships thrown in the middle.

The show starts off with a conversation between Jeff, David, and Dock. Dock is a elderly man, who gives his thoughts on the first woman and what she dealt with in the world.

Dave then calls a women's retail store and tries to figure out the deal with Women's clothing sizes.

The last segment is an interview with Artist Kimberly Dunaway. Kimberly is active in the cosplay scene, which consists of dressing up and pretending to be a fictional character (usually a sci-fi, comic book, or anime character). Kimberly talks about dealing with that as a female, along with how the younger female crowd is affecting the scene.

Help support Kimberly by going to her website: kimberlydunaway.com and purchasing art, clothing, and stickers.

Music in the breaks provided by: David Bowie, Elvis Costello, and Money Pants!

From the Burro in 5 - Top 5 Double Albums

This week is my top 5 favorite Double albums of all time. I break it down in exactly 5 minutes

From Wikipedia: A double album (or double record) is an audio album which spans two units of the primary medium in which it is sold, typically records and compact discs.A double album is usually, though not always, released as such because the recording is longer than the capacity of the medium. Recording artists often think of double albums as a single piece artistically; however, there are exceptions such as Pink Floyd's Ummagumma (one live album and one studio record packaged together), and OutKast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, (effectively two solo albums, one by each member of the duo).

So listen, enjoy, and let me hear some of your favorites.

From the Burro in 5 - Top Trios

In this episode of From the Burro in 5, Dave lists his top 5 musical trio acts of all time.

From Wikipedia: A power trio is a rock and roll band format typically having a lineup of guitar, bass and drums, leaving out the rhythm guitar or keyboard that are used in other rock music to fill out the sound with chords. While one or more band members may sing, power trios usually emphasize instrumental performance and overall impact over vocals and lyrics.
