The Hard Lessons

I saw The Hard Lessons last night @ Windows off The Cumberland in Nashville. wow. I was blown away. I've been a fan of the band for a while now after hearing them on The Plan Nine Rock Show. Seeing them live has now made me a super fan. If all local shows were like this..I'd go see them all the time.

Augie, The Guitar player/vocalist, is a badass ninja on stage. His playing is extraordinary. He really carries his guitar on stage like a weapon. At the end of the set he was doing things with his guitar that had the crowd in shock. He climbed on top of his amp and really put on a show.

Ko Ko, Organist/Vocalist is amazing as well. When she was singing it sounded like the voice of God on stage. I just can't get over how well her vocals were in such a small venue. I was thinking to myself at one point, if this chick went on American Idol, she'd win..straight up. Best live vocals I've ever heard.

The two together have this insane chemistry on stage. Best show I've seen so far this year. They ended the show with Hey, Hey, My, My (a Neil Young cover) and it was mind blowing!!!! If these guys come to your town make sure to go and see them. Get the word out. So i've included a video of Hey, Hey, My, My...check it out!

suprise, suprise.

Phish Fans do drugs....no way.

HAMPTON, Va. – Some Phish fans are leaving Hampton a little lighter than when they arrived for the band's weekend reunion.

Police said Monday they confiscated about $1.2 million in illegal drugs and more than $68,000 in cash from concertgoers. Authorities also arrested 194 Phish fans during the three-night celebration of the band's return to the stage after a nearly five-year absence.

Most of the arrests were for drug possession, use and distribution, police said.

Tourism officials had estimated 75,000 fans would be coming to the coastal Virginia city. Nearly 200 law enforcement officers worked the weekend event, with the Vermont-based band picking up the tab.

Happy Friday

Happy Friday boys and girls.

I'm listening to The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner by Ben Folds Five on a rainy day at work. Good times.

This album produced one of my favorite songs ever, Mess.

First few lines of Mess

There was a time that I had nothing to explain
Oh, this mess I had made
But then things got complicated
My innocence has all but faded
Oh, this mess I have made
And I dont believe in god
So I cant be saved
All alone as Ive learned to be
In this mess I have made

Such great lyrics.

steal an mp3....why stop there?

i see his point...but still funny

all work and no play...

how boring can one day be? I'm ready to jump out of my skin .......

Want to get a great album? Go buy The Raconteurs, Consolers of the Lonely. Great album from start to finish. Jack White is something else. I can't imagine writing the amount of songs he has written in the span of a few years. He even had time to help produce Loretta Lynn's album, which is also worth a listen.

I'm still not sold on the new Weezer album. It's slowly growing on me but it's not going to replace The Blue Album or Pinkerton. Hell, I'm not even sure if it's going to replace The Green Album.

When does a person know it's time to stop doing the music thing? I'm wondering that a lot these days. Do I stick with my band or am I too old and not talented enough? Guess time will tell.

Fact of the day.
First two childhood crushes for me,

meg white.

Why does Meg White (of White Stripes frame) get so much $h!t? She can play drums better than I can, so I don't really care.

I also think she is uber-attractive.

So here is your forum to bitch and moan. Why do you hate Meg White? Because she 'cant' play drums??? Jack White says that she makes it work for him and isn't that the important thing. At times musicians are so elite that it bothers me. No one is busting Johnny Ramone's ass for not being the best guitar player in the world. Sometimes simplicity is the best thing in the world.

Just something I thought of.....
